A step-by-step path to healthier cities

Working on evidence for better urban decisions

Real data, real goals, real impact

Planning urban health revolution

At HARMONIE, we move step by step: measuring noise exposure, monitoring air pollution (AP), mapping its spread, and understanding the impact on people and especially on vulnerable population (VP). Along the way, we engage citizens, test solutions with cities, and share results so they can be adopted across Europe.

WP1 – Air Pollution and Noise Monitoring

Measuring pollution in cities

We deploy advanced sensors in pilot cities to monitor air quality and noise, both indoors and outdoors. This builds the foundation for accurate exposure assessments.

WP2 – Pollution Modelling

Turning data into maps

Using AI and advanced modelling, we create detailed 2D and 3D pollution maps that show hotspots and predict how pollution spreads across cities.

WP3 – Exposure, behaviour & integration for CCDT

Building the digital backbone

We design and develop the Citizen-Centric Digital Twin (CCDT), a living tool to co-create and refine effective pollution-reduction strategies.

WP4 – Causes of AP health effects

Linking pollution to health

We use advanced biological and lung digital twins (LDT) to study the mechanisms of damage that occur when pollutants are inhaled, especially in vulnerable groups.

WP5 – Impact of AP and noise exposure in VP

Measuring health outcomes

Using epidemiological and health impact assessment methods, we translate exposure insights into mortality, morbidity, and quality of life data tailored to policymakers.

WP6 – Policy, Pilot Interventions & Replicability

Working with people for change

We engage citizens, NGOs, and local organizations in campaigns and co-design processes. Their input shapes the CCDT, reflecting community priorities, and fostering public acceptance of zero-pollution measures.

WP7 – Communication, Dissemination & Exploitation

Maximizing reach and impact

We ensure knowledge transfer to citizens, policymakers, and scientific communities, as well as the long-term use of tools, including in cities and networks beyond pilot projects.

WP8 – Project Management & Communication

Coordinating the project

We ensure smooth progress, strong collaboration across partners, and effective management of resources and governance throughout the project.
